CSCR This Week: NRR Signature Cold Brew Blend

Coffee – This week we’re featuring our NRR Cold Brew Blend, which you can use to make regular coffee or cold brew concentrate.  Look for notes of chocolate, brown sugar, tangerine, cherry and allspice.

If you want to make cold brew coffee at home, all you need is a grinder, a mason jar, a coffee filter and a strainer.  Start with a 32- or 64-ounce glass mason jar, depending on how much you want to brew.  You're going to use 1 ounce of coffee coarsely ground for every 6 ounces of water, using a grind that is a bit coarser than for French press.

Dump the ground coffee in the mason jar and add 6 ounces of water for every ounce of coffee.  Stir it up to get all the coffee grounds saturated and put a lid on the jar.  You can let your coffee brew on the counter 12-18 hours or in the fridge 18-24 hours. After about the first half hour of brewing, stir up the coffee grounds a bit, which have risen to the top of the jar and then put it on the counter or in the fridge. 

When your brew time has finished, just strain out the grounds using a kitchen strainer lined with a coffee filter and you now have cold brew concentrate. This can be diluted with water at a ratio of 1:1 for a tasty, smooth, low acid and refreshing coffee drink!
