This Week’s Share
This week we’re roasting the Honduran coffee beans. The Fair Trade Organic Honduras “Manos de Mujer” or “Hands of Women” is an initiative within the COMSA organization that started in 2013 and is located in Marcala, Honduras. This group of female coffee producers within the COMSA organization formed with a goal to improve the living standards of the women that own and operate their own farms.

Happy National Coffee Month! To celebrate, we want to share a short story along with some quick links of some items to help you celebrate if you’d like to!
Short Story
Today we did a coffee tasting for staff at the Family Partnership Center in Poughkeepsie. We offered samples of light, medium, or dark roast, and occasionally shared the origins of the coffees. Two friends came to the tasting together, one woman requesting medium and one requesting light roast. They got their samples, tasted them, and delightfully asked us what the origins of the coffees were. We shared that the light was from Oaxaca and the medium was from Colombia. The woman responded: “No wonder we liked it! I’m having medium and I’m from Colombia, and she’s have light and is from Oaxaca!!”. We love moments like these when people see themselves, either in their places of origin or places that they’ve visited, reflected in our coffees!
