This week we will be roasting our brand new Sumatran coffee! This Fair Trade Organic coffee was produced by the KOPEPI Ketiara Cooperative. This cooperative is located in the Gayo Highlands of Sumatra, Indonesia, surrounding the town of Takegon. It was established in 2009 by 38 people, and today has 900 members and is pimarily led by women. Best of Luck to Amber at New Paltz!
As you might have seen on Facebook, this Friday was Amber’s last day with North River Roasters. Amber was our Summer Youth LEAP (Learning through Experience, Assistance, and Partnership) Employee, coordinated by Middle Main’s Americorps VISTAs Dylan and Nora. Amber did a fantastic job supporting us in a number of areas including researching, working at events selling coffee, distributing coffee at the PFP, and weighing and bagging coffee! Amber also developed a survey to help us understand what the community would like to see in the new community cafe that we will be opening at the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory! We’ll share that survey with you shortly and we look forward to gathering your input! Wishing Amber the best of luck in her studies at New Paltz. Thanks so much to Middle Main for sharing this opportunity with us!

Happy Brewing!
